Just Like That
Some days feel heavier than others, and yesterday was one of those days.
I sat on the couch and watched another episode of Sex and the City. Still feeling emotional, I turned off the television and headed to bed. I tossed and turned, missing my family, and feeling the weight of being so far from them.
Eventually, I drifted off to sleep. When I woke up, I prayed and reminded myself that pity parties don’t change anything—they just prolong the struggle. I decided to focus on what I could do to get my family here sooner rather than later.
Small Wins, Big Steps
The day turned out to be productive and filled with progress:
- I received my transcripts, which meant I could officially enroll in school. That moment brought a wave of excitement—it felt like a step toward the future I’ve been working for.
- I completed my nursing endorsement application, paid the fee, and scheduled my fingerprints. It was another box checked off my to-do list.
- To top it all off, I applied for an assistant manager position at the hospital.
The kicker? After submitting the application, I realized it was for a cardiac unit. LOL. I just cracked up. If nothing else, it gave me a good laugh—I definitely won’t be getting that job!
Focus on Progress
Each day brings new challenges, but instead of dwelling on the weight of yesterday, I’m focusing on how to overcome the obstacles in front of me.
Even when things feel overwhelming, I remind myself: progress is progress, no matter how small—or how funny the outcomes might be.
Here’s to embracing the journey, one step at a time.
